Role Overview
The Strength Coach supports our growing strength program during peak afternoon and evening hours, delivering high-quality coaching across multiple formats: 1:1 training, small group sessions, team training, and large group classes. This is a coaching role—not sales-focused. You'll work alongside physical therapists, other strength coaches, and our operations team to deliver safe, effective, and engaging training experiences that help clients build confidence, strength, and long-term movement habits. You'll be responsible for program delivery, client progression, clear communication, and creating an environment where people feel challenged, supported, and capable.

A successful Strength Coach:
Delivers exceptional coaching in 1:1, small group, team, and large group formats
Communicates clearly and adapts coaching to different skill levels and goals
Builds trust and rapport with clients while maintaining professional boundaries
Follows established programming frameworks and progressions
Keeps clients safe through proper cueing, scaling, and attentive supervision
Collaborates with PTs and other coaches to ensure seamless client care
Shows up on time, prepared, and ready to create a great experience

Responsibilities
Coaching Delivery
• Lead 1:1 strength training sessions tailored to individual client goals and abilities
• Coach small group classes (2-6 clients) with attention to individual needs within a group setting
• Deliver team training sessions for sport-specific groups or existing teams
• Facilitate large group strength classes with clear instruction and effective room management
• Follow established program templates while adapting exercises for individual limitations or progressions
Client Care & Communication
• Build rapport with clients and create a welcoming, professional training environment
• Provide clear coaching cues, demonstrations, and feedback during sessions
• Communicate with clients about their progress, questions, and next steps
• Coordinate with physical therapists when clients have pain, limitations, or questions outside your scope
• Document session notes and client progress as needed
Operations & Collaboration
• Arrive prepared and on time for all scheduled sessions
• Set up and break down training spaces efficiently and safely
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe training areas
• Follow Zenith's coaching standards, safety protocols, and operating values
• Participate in team meetings, continuing education, and coaching development opportunities
• Support the strength team's culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
This role is a great fit if you:
• Have coaching experience with individuals and groups across different fitness levels
• Can coach confidently in 1:1, small group, team, and large group settings
• Communicate clearly, adapt on the fly, and manage multiple clients simultaneously
• Understand exercise progressions, regressions, and safe program design
• Are comfortable working with active adults, athletes, and clients returning from injury
• Value collaboration and are willing to learn from a multidisciplinary team
• Show up with energy, professionalism, and a growth mindset
Preferred Qualifications:
• CSCS, NSCA-CPT, USAW, or similar strength and conditioning certification
• Experience coaching in a sports performance, CrossFit, or functional fitness setting
• Background working alongside physical therapists or in a clinical-adjacent environment
• Familiarity with movement screening, injury prevention, and return-to-sport progressions
This Role Is NOT:
• A sales or membership-driven position
• A solo trainer role—you'll be part of a collaborative team
• A programming role (programs are designed by the strength team lead)
Tools You'll Use
• PT Everywhere (scheduling, client records, session notes)
• Internal programming templates and coaching frameworks
• Google Workspace for team communication and documentation
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive hourly pay $22–$35 per hour based on experience and certifications. Compensation structure may include session-based pay for 1:1 training.
