About ACL Tear
An ACL tear is one of the most common knee injuries in athletes. Whether surgical or non-surgical, the path back to sport requires structured rehabilitation focused on strength, movement quality, and sport-specific loading.
Expected Recovery Window
Post-surgical return to sport: 9–12 months. Conservative (non-surgical): varies by activity goals.
Common Symptoms
Immediate pop or snap sensation, rapid swelling within hours, instability or 'giving way' feeling, difficulty bearing weight, reduced range of motion, pain with twisting or pivoting movements.
Common Causes
Non-contact pivoting or cutting movements, sudden deceleration, landing awkwardly from a jump, direct impact to the knee. Risk factors include muscle imbalances, poor landing mechanics, and previous injury.
How We Treat ACL Tear
Our ACL rehabilitation protocol is strength-first and criteria-based. We focus on restoring quad and hamstring strength, improving movement quality, and progressively loading through sport-specific patterns. Whether you're post-op or managing conservatively, we'll guide you through every phase from initial mobility to return-to-sport testing.
