About Ankle Sprain

Ankle sprains are one of the most common sports injuries—and one of the most under-rehabilitated. Proper treatment prevents chronic instability and repeated sprains down the road.

Expected Recovery Window

Mild (Grade 1): 2–4 weeks. Moderate (Grade 2): 6–8 weeks. Severe (Grade 3): 10–12 weeks.

Common Symptoms

Immediate pain and swelling on the outside of the ankle, bruising that may appear after 24-48 hours, difficulty bearing weight, instability or 'giving way' sensation, reduced range of motion, tenderness over ligaments.

Common Causes

Landing awkwardly from a jump, stepping on uneven ground, sudden direction changes, contact with another athlete, previous ankle sprain increasing instability risk.

How We Treat Ankle Sprain

Most ankle sprains don't require surgery, but they do require proper rehab. We focus on restoring range of motion, building strength in the ankle and lower leg, and progressing through balance and agility work to prevent re-injury and chronic instability.
