About Muscle Knots & Trigger Points
Muscle knots and trigger points are tight, irritable spots in muscle that can refer pain and limit movement. Physical therapy treats the root drivers with targeted manual work, dry needling when appropriate, and strength and mobility programming. The goal is lasting relief, not temporary release.
Expected Recovery Window
Acute flare: 1–3 weeks. Persistent myofascial pain: 4–8+ weeks depending on drivers and load.
Common Symptoms
Tight, tender bands in a muscle; local ache or burning; referred pain pattern when pressed; stiffness and reduced range of motion; pain that worsens with stress or overuse; relief with movement, heat, or manual therapy.
Common Causes
Sustained posture or repetitive work; training overload and muscle fatigue; stress and poor sleep increasing muscle tone; reduced mobility leading to compensations; prior injury with protective guarding; dehydration and under-recovery contributing to sensitised tissue.
How We Treat Muscle Knots & Trigger Points
We identify the driver of your trigger points — overload, mobility restriction, or nervous system sensitisation — then treat with hands-on soft tissue work, dry needling when appropriate, and a targeted strength and mobility plan. The goal is not just short-term release but improved tissue tolerance and movement patterns.
