Ridgeline Trail

Eugene’s Ridgeline Trail spans 14+ miles of forested singletrack linking Spencer Butte, Baldy, and Moon Mountain. Rolling climbs, shady switchbacks, and valley views make it a signature spot for long runs, hill work, and daily escapes.

The Ridgeline Trail System is Eugene’s most popular network of in-town singletrack, stretching more than 12 miles across the city’s southern hills. Linking neighborhoods to nature, it offers rolling climbs, shaded forest, and wide-open views—all within minutes of downtown. For trail runners, it’s a daily training ground: equally suited for recovery jogs, pre-work laps, or linking together longer efforts with plenty of options for variety.

The system’s signature climb is Spencer Butte, Eugene’s iconic 2,058-foot summit. The steep, rocky trail to the top rewards with panoramic views of the Willamette Valley, Cascades, and Coast Range, making it one of the city’s best short, high-output workouts. But Ridgeline is more than just a single peak—it’s a network of connectors, with trailheads at Fox Hollow, Dillard, and Willamette Street opening up countless possibilities for loops, long runs, and creative routes.

The terrain ranges from runnable forest paths to rooty switchbacks and steady ridges. On wet days, the canopy provides shelter, and even in the rain, the trails hold up well. Popular segments include the rolling stretch between Fox Hollow and Dillard, perfect for building volume, and the climb up Mount Baldy, ideal for adding vertical gain.

Accessible, scenic, and surprisingly quiet on weekdays, Ridgeline is a reminder that in Eugene, adventure doesn’t start with a road trip—it starts right outside your door.
